The procedure for holding competitions for grant funding of projects in the field of culture has been approved.
Publika.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev signed the amendment to the Law "On Culture" in this regard.
It was noted that although no restrictions are established for the provision of grants to legal and natural persons in accordance with the Law "On Grants", the "Procedure for State Funding of Events Held by Non-Governmental Organizations in the Field of Culture", approved by the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, only defines the procedure for funding events in the field of culture for NGOs.
According to the document, it is necessary to approve a special procedure for the regulation of legal entities other than NGOs, as well as natural persons, in addition to NGOs, for grant funding of events held in the field of culture. Taking these into account, amendments have been made to the Law "On Culture" to establish the procedure for holding competitions for grant funding of projects in the field of culture.
The document emphasizes that although regulation related to the creative industry exists in the said law, the term itself has not been defined. The term "cultural and creative industry" has been used in the Action Plan of the "Socio-Economic Development Strategy for 2022-2026-ies", the "Azerbaijan Culture – 2040" Cultural Concept, and other documents. In this regard, the concept of "cultural and creative industry" has also been established in the law.
The procedure for holding competitions will be determined by the body (organization) determined by the relevant executive authority.
