Head of Legal
Role overview:
The role of a Head of Legal encompasses providing guidance on corporate governance, litigation, negotiating and drafting contracts, risk management, and the development of plans in compliance with Azerbaijani law and Carlsberg group policies. As Head of Legal, you’ll support Carlsberg (one of the world’s leading brewers) to improve performance in a rapidly changing environment. You’ll be an instrumental part of cross-cultural leadership teams and should always bring diverse perspectives to every challenge.
What you’ll be doing:
Your key responsibilities will be:
- To provide legal guidance on a wide range of legal matters such as contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation, employment law, intellectual property, and corporate governance.
- To identify and mitigate legal risks.
- To ensure the enterprise compliance with the requirements of business ethics, anti-bribery, competition, and other legislation to minimize any compliance risks.
- To develop and implement legal procedures and policies, to ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws.
- To represent the enterprise in legal proceedings, working with outside counsel when required.
- To draft, negotiate, and verify all the contracts, legal documents, and agreements.
- To control and timely update all the enterprise’s constitutional documents.
- To conduct legal research to ensure the organisation is up to date with the latest legal changes.
- To be a trusted advisor for management team.
- To cooperate with Carlsberg’s regional and global legal & compliance functions.
- To oversee the operation of the legal department.
- To conduct all necessary legal training for staff.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- A strong educational background, including a bachelor's degree in law or a related field acquired from an accredited institution. Additionally, a master’s degree in law or business administration will be welcomed.
- In-depth legal expertise in FMCG sector or MNC business, with an understanding of legal principles and practices, alongside specific knowledge in the realm of corporate/commercial law, contract law, employment law, intellectual property, and litigation.
- Experience in managerial positions for at least 2 years.
- Excellent business acumen in regard to understanding business operation and objectives, permitting your provision of legal advice aligning with business strategy.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to assess and understand complex legal issues, and provide strategic advice.
- Proficiency in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian languages.
- Advanced user of MS office.
