Senior Database Specialist

Job summary:

• A professional Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the database up and run smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure 24/7 uptime, security, and high performance of Oracle and SQL Server databases
• Manage installation, configuration, patching, backups, restoration, and upgrades
• Monitor and optimize database performance using relevant tools and techniques
• Maintain data integrity, security policies, and access controls
• Collaborate with application developers and IT teams to support project needs
• Participate in audit processes, including compliance and license management
• Provide mentorship and support to junior DBAs and team members
• Develop and maintain database documentation, policies, and standards
• Implement data migration, data archiving, and ETL processes
• Utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell) to streamline administrative tasks
• Monitor using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, or 3rd-party solutions (e.g., SolarWinds, RedGate)

Knowledge and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on DBA experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
• Expertise in high availability, replication, and backup/restore strategies (e.g., RMAN, Data Guard, AlwaysOn)
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools, SSIS, SSRS, and database scripting
• Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, and basic shell scripting
• Knowledge of monitoring, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCA) or Microsoft Azure DBA Associate are preferred
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and cross-functional teams preferred
