Credit Risk Manager

Summary

Credit Risk Manager leads the Credit Risk Department (CRD), which plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health of the subsidiary by proactively managing credit risk. This position fosters a culture of responsible lending while ensuring compliance with regulations and FINCA's mission.

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the entire credit risk management framework, including centralized underwriting, credit scoring, portfolio monitoring.
  • Offer support in defining and updating the subsidiary's credit risk appetite and credit risk strategy.
  • Offer support in defining and updating credit risk policies, procedures, manuals, etc.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of potential clients and approve credit exposure.
  • Continuously monitor the loan portfolio quality and performance.
  • Develop and implement credit risk stress tests (when applicable).
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate credit risk management into strategic decisions.
  • In strong co-operation with subsidiary’s HR department, assure the quality of responsible CRD staff.

Supervisory responsibility:      

  • Lead and manage the Centralized Credit Underwriting Unit and other staff within the Credit Risk Department, ensuring alignment with the subsidiary’s overall credit risk management framework and objectives.
  • Leads and coordinates work of subordinated staff including but not limited to: recruitment, performance management, training and staff development;
  • Delegates tasks accordingly and coordinates tasks deliverables in time.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Extensive experience in credit or credit risk management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of the subsidiary credit policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and credit risk assessment techniques.
  • Database management in MC office and Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and credit risk assessment techniques.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in management position in credit or credit risk management, preferably within Finca or in the microfinance/ banking industry.

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in English & Azerbaijani language.

Travel requirements:

  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time may be needed.
