Economics IGCSE Teacher
Role Overview
We are seeking an analytically-minded and engaging Economics Teacher to
join our Social Sciences department. The successful candidate will be
responsible for delivering the Cambridge International Curriculum, helping
students master everything from basic market mechanisms to complex macro-economic
policies and international trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum
Delivery: Expertly teach Cambridge IGCSE Economics (0455) and,
potentially, AS & A-Level Economics (9708).
- Economic
Modeling: Teach students how to construct, analyze, and interpret economic
graphs (e.g., Supply/Demand, AD/AS curves, PPC) with precision.
- Real-World
Integration: Connect theoretical concepts (inflation, exchange rates,
opportunity cost) to current global financial news and the Azerbaijani
economic context.
- Data
Literacy: Develop students' ability to handle quantitative and qualitative
data, focusing on the "Data Response" questions common in
Cambridge examinations.
- Critical
Evaluation: Guide students in writing high-level evaluative essays that
weigh the pros and cons of various government interventions and economic
policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Economics
Education.
- Certification:
Valid teaching credentials (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Curriculum
Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the Cambridge Assessment International
Education (CAIE) syllabus and assessment objectives.
- Language
Proficiency: Native or near-native English proficiency. A minimum IELTS
score of 7.0 (with a high score in Writing) is essential for modeling the
academic tone required for senior examinations.
- Analytical
Tools: Proficiency in using ICT tools for data visualization and economic
research.
Core Pedagogical Competencies
- Scaffolding
for ESL: Ability to break down complex economic jargon for students who
are learning English as a second language.
- Active
Learning: Use of case studies, debates, and simulation games (e.g., stock
market simulations) to make abstract concepts tangible.
- Exam
Technique Mastery: A deep understanding of the Cambridge mark schemes,
specifically how to move students from "knowledge" and
"understanding" to "analysis" and
"evaluation."
