History Teacher
Role Overview
We are
looking for an intellectually curious and pedagogical History Teacher to join
our faculty. The candidate will be responsible for delivering the Cambridge International Curriculum from Primary (Global
Perspectives/Integrated Studies) through to IGCSE, sparking students' interest
in the past and its impact on the modern world.
Key
Responsibilities
- Primary (Stages 1–6):
Introduce historical concepts through storytelling, inquiry-based
learning, and the Cambridge Global Perspectives
framework. Focus on developing chronological understanding and curiosity
about different cultures.
- Lower Secondary (Stages 7–9):
Deliver a broad and balanced history curriculum. Teach students how to
evaluate primary and secondary sources, identify bias, and understand
cause and effect.
- Upper Secondary (IGCSE):
Expertly deliver the Cambridge IGCSE History syllabus.
Prepare students for examinations covering 20th-century international
relations and depth studies (e.g., Germany, Russia, or the USA).
- Academic Writing & Research: Mentor
students in the art of essay writing, structured arguments, and historical
inquiry.
- Curriculum Integration: Work
with the Geography and English departments to create cross-curricular
links that enhance students' global awareness.
Requirements
& Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History or History Education.
- Teaching License:
Recognized teaching certificate (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Curriculum Knowledge: Strong
familiarity with the Cambridge International pathway
and IGCSE History assessment objectives.
- Analytical Skills:
Expertise in source-based analysis and helping students develop
independent critical thinking.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent academic English. Candidates must provide evidence of English competency with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent).
Pedagogical
Competencies
- Ability to make complex historical events
accessible and engaging for younger learners while maintaining academic
rigor for examination classes.
- Strong focus on literacy and vocabulary
building, ensuring students can express complex historical
arguments clearly.
- Proficiency in using digital resources and
archives to bring history to life in the classroom.
