Process Engineer (Energy)

 Summary:

Perform the required calculations to create plant energy balances and track the consumption of utilities such as steam, natural gas, water, etc. Suggest possible optimizations on minimizing the energy consumption of processing units and their operating costs. Create monthly reports on utility consumption. Track the flare hydrocarbon losses.

Responsibilities:

• Use the company internal tools to daily monitor the energy balance (steam, natural gas, electricity, etc.) of all the refinery units.
• Create monthly reports indicating the refinery’s energy consumption
• Suggest ideas to minimize, when possible, a unit’s consumption of any utilities
• Create models to calculate fired heater efficiency
• Track the operation of fired heaters in processing units and suggest optimizations where applicable (heater efficiency, fuel gas consumption, etc.)
• Monitor the flare hydrocarbon losses for each processing unit and suggest optimizations when applicable to reduce the flare losses
• Investigate the energy consumption norms of each refinery unit and calculate them based on unit historical data
• Calculate the production cost of each utility on a monthly basis

Requirements:

• 2024 Chemical engineering graduates
