Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist for Renewable Energy Project
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled GIS expert to join our renewable energy project. As a GIS expert, you will be responsible for implementing geospatial methodologies to support decision-making for the development and implementation of renewable energy project. Your primary focus will be on the following responsibilities:
Geospatial Analysis: Conducting geospatial analysis to identify potential sites for renewable energy project, analyzing data to determine the suitability of sites, and developing maps and visualizations to communicate analysis results.
Data Collection and Management: Collecting and managing geospatial data, including data from satellites, drones, and ground-based sensors, and integrating it with other relevant data sources.
GIS Modeling: Developing GIS models to simulate various scenarios related to renewable energy project, such as solar irradiance, wind speed, and terrain analysis, to support decision-making.
Spatial Data Infrastructure: Implementing a spatial data infrastructure to manage and share geospatial data with internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Support: Providing technical support to project teams and stakeholders in the use of GIS tools and methodologies, including providing training and troubleshooting support.
Research: Staying up-to-date with the latest GIS technologies and methodologies and conducting research to identify new approaches to support the development of renewable energy project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in geography, GIS, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in GIS analysis and modeling
- Experience working on renewable energy projects preferred
- Knowledge of GIS software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and ENVI
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
