Mechanical Engineer (Marine engineering)

The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer of Engineering department is to  support to production and commercial departments on technical specifications, design and construction drawings of vessels.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To participate on design and develop process of marine mechanical systems, such as propulsion systems, power generation systems, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, and hydraulic systems, for marine vessels. 
• Conduct technical analysis and feasibility studies to ensure that the designed systems meet performance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed models and drawings of mechanical components and systems.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, structural, and naval architecture, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with overall vessel design.
• Prepares equipment technical purchase specifications as per design philosophy and evaluate technical quotations from vendors.
• Performs design calculations.
• Carries out as built drawings.
• Support all production and testing activities related to Mechanical/Piping systems
• Attends sea trial, dock trial and prepares record report.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in shipbuilding or marine industry

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and symbols according to the international standards.
• Able to read and understand specification, class rules and statutory regulations
• Address any design issues or technical challenges that arise during the design, construction, or operation phases, and provide effective solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Ensure that the design and implementation of marine mechanical systems comply with relevant regulatory standards, classification society rules, and industry best practices.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly and accurately
• Capability to work against deadlines and prioritize work assignments accordingly
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Must have computer knowledge in AutoCAD, MS Office
• Able to converse/write in both English and Azeri.
