Offshore Electronics engineer
Job objective:
- Summarize in one or two sentences the reason why the job exists
- To ensure reliable operation of the equipment; to operate electrical equipment in compliance with appopriate norms and regulations; and to improve the effectiveness of their use;
- The maintenance, repair and overhaul of all Hydraulics equipment including an oversight of procurement and materials/spares requirement to ensure continued operability of equipment throughout SOCAR AQS operations;
- Be fully aware of the SOCAR AQS Procedure for preventive maintenance, inspection and test programme (PMITP).
Key accountabilities:
- To safely carry out work functions in the main area of operations and in case of necessity including vessels, wagons, shores and all areas where the company operates;
- To organize control and maintenance of the electronic equipment, in compliance with the offshore operation rules and requirements of safety and technical conditions of equipment;
- To implement the actions, which will ensure effective and trouble-free operation of the electronic equipment, provided complexity of the offshore drilling works and other technological processes;
- To timely organize planned-preventive maintenance and planned-preventive repair works in accordance with the technical requirements of offshore electronic equipment;
- To determine sequence of operation and working regime of the electronic equipment, depending on the importance of offshore technological processes;
- To identify any failures in thermistor switch; and to arrange replacement and adjustment of disordered electronic blocks;
- To ensure the work on selection of the working regime for drilling pumps, draw works, rotor unit control electronic panel block; to identify and to adjust any failures in these blocks; and to restore working regime within short technological time intervals;
- To implement all works related with the offshore PLC systems;
- To select working regime of the electric boards; to identify any disorders; and to restore working regime in accordance with the technical requirements, by repairing within short period of time;
- To adjust technical control panels, drilling pump panels and driller’s control panel; to identify any disorders in them; to repair and to restore them;
- To technically protect drilling draw works and rotor assembly;
- Maintane auto driller electronic equipment; to identify any disorders in it; and to eliminate these disorders;
- To ensure effective use and storage of the existing technical documentation;
- To increase personnel’s technical knowledge and to regularly test their level of knowledge, taking into consideration uniqueness and complexity of the offshore electronic equipment; to assist in developing knowledgeable personnel;
- To assist in timely investigation of technical incidents and determination of their causes;
- To assist in preparation of the requests for spare electronic elements, spare parts, electronic blocks and cells;
- To assist in creating safe and sound working conditions on the platform and in preparation of the comprehensive labour protection plan;
- To assist in implementing new technical achievements, which promote to the improvement of the work of electronic equipment;
- To ensure that the offshore departments, where electronic equipment is located, comply with technical and fire protection regulations, sanitary norms and labour protection norms;
- If necessary, check the records and information on purchased products and report to the offshore maintenance supervisor about it;
- Ensure the integrity of data lists, ex. Technical service / repair / displacement business cards;
- Responsible for the provision of all Electronics and Instrumentation maintenance, repair and overhaul as dictated by SAP PM – also support for rig maintenance personnel throughout SOCAR AQS operations;
- Assists as required with any shut-down, planned stoppage and maintenance work scopes. Carry outs plan with relevant personnel;
- Assist with the control and implementation of commissioning, testing and hand-over certification documentation transfer between Operations and Maintenance;
- Implement, input, control, review and maintain the reliability of all equipment under sphere of responsibility to a standard apposite for the management of maintenance in line with, API and in country interface documentation – relative to Electronics and Instrumentation issues;
- Assist with the supervision of equipment repair and procurement both on and offshore and ensure that it is completed in a timely manner;
- Responsible for ensuring that all relative material goods and equipment are correct and fit for purpose;
- Assist with the control and implementation of start-up documentation transfer between Ops and Maintenance;
- Stand in for alternative work discipline as required;
- Responsibility over RREP / NPT (Rig Repair / Non Productive Time) attributed to Electronics and Instrumentation maintenance and repair failures / activities;
- Assistance with SAP PM data input for respective areas of responsibility including delivery of offshore maintenance team efficiency / productivity;
- Delivery of related Electronics equipment Offshore Maintenance, reports, data collation, record keeping;
- Provide work according to organization’s values;

- To perform evaluation for the purpose of determination of the tasks implemented within the area under supervision.

- To comply with ecological standards implemented in the company;
- To manage and comply with the rules on wastes segregation based on Wastes Management Procedure;
- To be aware of ecological aspects related with the work activities and to implement control measures.
Competency requirements: (education, experience, special expertise etc.)
- Experience: 2 years of experience in a relevant field and position
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent education
- Skills: Technological literacy, including MS Office, Zoom, SAP etc.
- English language skills are preferred
- Financial and numerical literacy and ability to read, digest and track financial information, if any
- Awareness and advanced knowledge about HSE standards
- Attitude to learn from others and to share with others
- Ability to communicate in an open, clear, transparent and friendly way
- Ability to generate solutions and attitude to take ownership for mistakes
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities and accountabilities
