  • Duration: Fixed-term, 2 years with possible extension. Regular offshore missions

Job dimensions:

JOCAP is a non-profit Joint Operating Company established in 2018 and equally owned by partners SOCAR Absheron (SOA) 50% and TotalEnergies EP Absheron B.V. (TEPAb) 50% for the development and production of the Absheron offshore block.

The Absheron block is located offshore Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea, about 100km southeast of Baku and 33km south of Oil Rocks production and processing facilities, at the water depth of 500m.

Absheron development reference agreements are PSA, JOA and addendums.

Phase 1 data:

  • The studies for the next stage of Development are ongoing and targeting a FID in late 2024.
  • Additional production of 11.3 MSm3/d of gas with 3 additional wells
  • Drilling campaign of about 900 days with DRILLEX around 700 MUS$. Rig and LLI contracts place in 2024.
  • Rig expected to be secured in Q2 2024
  • Subject to selected rig and its condition (cold stack), reactivation program and upgrade could be up to 18 month

Activities:

The job holder’s overall responsibility is to support of the overall individual new or stacked rig delivery plans, to allow the safe drilling operation on FFD/Phase I using the best work practices, with the objective of remaining within the agreed Budget and Schedule, the accountability of which is owned by the rig line Drilling Superintendent.

Key activities:

  • Ensure HSE targets are met during Rig Intake and 3rd Party services equipment installation Operations.
  • Perform QHSE audits in Drilling Rig / 3rd Party services Contractors' base.
  • Develop rig acceptance program along with rig upgrade plan in collaboration with various stakeholder (Drilling team, HSE team, rig contractor, service companies) to ensure rig is fit for Absheron FFD.
  • Coordinate Rig re-activation / upgrade / acceptance operations from Operator’s side and manage services contractors (inspection, certification, plus third parties providers)
  • Ensure Rig re-activation program is followed up and any deviation captured through a Management of Change dossier if necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise for Rig re-activation / 3rd Party Services equipment installation subjects to Drilling Manager to troubleshoot operational issues to minimize NPT during Operations.
  • During Rig re-activation stage, be a strong actor in QAQC process. Participate FAT and integration test for relevant equipment.
  • Follow-up and keep track of Drilling Rig / 3rd Party services mobilization expenditures and ensure costs stay within AFE.
  • Organize SQM with Drilling Rig / 3rd Party services Providers throughout the rig intake project
  • Check QAQC procedures for Drilling Rig / 3rd Party services equipment preparation before mobilization to the Rig.
  • Prepare Handover dossier for Rig Intake / 3rd Party Services equipment installations.
  • Prepare Costs summary at the end of the Rig re-activation Operations.
  • Prepare End of Rig Intake and Handover dossier for operations.
  • Prepare Return of Experience to capture highlights / lowlights of the Operations.

Detailed activities:

  • To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE, to implement HSSE rules and requirements within his area of responsibility   -  C
  • Using JOCAP rules and procedures and best work practices, establish and maintain a set of specific procedures complying with main agreements signed (PSA / JOA), to cover the co-ordination and control of activities   -  C
  • Review contractor’s commissioning procedures related to Rig re-activation and 3rd Party equipment installation. -  C
  • Plan and manage Rig Intake activities, safely delivering the rig intake objectives within budget, on schedule and without incident.  -  C
  • Participate in project reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, RISOP - Rig Intake and start-up operating practice).  -  C
  • Review engineering work in detail for complex issues which may jeopardize the operability or OPEX of the Absheron project   -  C
  • Participate in the Efficiency Improvement Initiative process  -  C
  • Manage and close Rig Verification actions  -  C
  • Act as an active member of the collaborative team in order to support operational team  -  C
  • To participate in the preparation and participate when requested (as required) to all required Workshops / Committee meetings with Service Provider(s), Authorities, Partners, and Stakeholder…  -  B

Required Competencies:

  • Level / Diploma: Engineering degree bachelor or master
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Drilling Operations, including Rig Intake experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in managing well operations (Drilling Superintendent or equivalent)
  • Well Control Certification Subsea Supervisor level (IADC or IWCF)
  • Ability to innovate and be open to new ideas
  • Proven track record as a strong team leader
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, demonstrated by an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Actively seeks out know how and best practice
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to solve complex problems
  • Executes and delivers results, which has a real bias for delivery.
