Centre of Excellence Manager

Job overview:

Lead a team of experts defining reservoir management practices, holding assurance reviews of asset performance with respect to those standards and defining plans to close gaps / progress opportunities, as well as managing the overall technical competency development, mentoring and coaching programs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective reservoir management processes, procedures and technical standards that align with the company's overall goals and objectives
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the CoE, ensuring that all team members are working towards common goals and objectives.
  • Define Technical assurance review programme across all assets including review objectives, review process, mobilization of suitable review team, report back to management and definition of follow up action plan.
  • Oversee the team conducting the Annual Well and Field performance reviews including auditing of field depletion plan and definition of follow up actions
  • Coordinate Lookback and Lessons Learned process for new wells and interventions
  • Provide relevant technical expertise as may be requested by other company entities
  • Promote participation in professional societies such as SPE, SPWLA, AAPG, and lead by example by staying abreast of important technical developments and publications.
  • Continuously monitor industry developments and technological advances to ensure that the team is up-to-date with the latest knowledge and best practices
  • Share identified best practices across teams
  • Manage team of technical specialists that serve as central consultants and shared resources for Reservoir Management across multiple assets. This team of experts will generally be the most experienced in SOCAR. This team will include senior reservoir engineers, production engineers, geologists, geophysicists, cased and open-hole petrophysicists
  • Responsible for coaching and mentorship of team members, setting performance objectives and goals, and conducting regular performance reviews.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or related field.

Technical:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in reservoir management or related field
  • Excellent knowledge of subsurface characterization, seismic interpretation, reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation and production optimization.
  • Experience in managing a group of highly proficient technical experts
  • Experience in developing and implementing new standards and procedures to enhance reservoir management
  • Experience in conducting technical Peer Reviews of subsurface deliverables
  • Experience in developing technical competency, mentoring and coaching programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Operator experience is essential

Non technical:

  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Azerbaijani and English languages
