Expert Production Engineering Advisor

Job overview:

Leading technical authority for Production Engineering bringing industry leading expertise into the Reservoir Mgt team Provides expert technical support. Advises leadership on technical standards, capability development and technology.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide expert input on the highest impact / most technically critical areas across Petroleum Engineering and related areas including data acquisition, well performance analysis (producers and injectors), artificial lift optimization, well and reservoir sweep management, well intervention planning, well completion design, and production forecasting
• Provide an independent perspective to leadership on key challenges and opportunities for short and long term reservoir management and business plans from a production engineering perspective
• Identify and support introduction of selected high impact external industry “best practices” and technologies
• Provide expert input to defining key well management technical workflows and related digital toolkit / digital architecture
• Provide expert input to defining appropriate well management and production engineering standards
• Support selected assurance reviews focusing on those with the highest criticality from a production engineering perspective
• Advise leadership on critical well integrity risks and options to mitigate
• Advise leadership on critical well performance risks / uncertainties and options to mitigate
• Advise leadership on production engineering capability requirements:- skill types, skill levels, numbers
• Advise leadership on production engineering capability development including support to recruitment and definition of experiential learning, formal training and career paths to build the required skill mix and depth.
• Mentor and coach selected senior staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher Petroleum Engineering

Technical:

• Work experience: 20+ years Production Engineering related experience on a range of oil and gas fields
• Recognised “international level” expert and thought leader in Production Engineering
• In depth technical knowledge across all aspects of Production Engineering including well performance analysis, lift optimization, well intervention planning, well completions, sand control and data acquisition
• Strong cross discipline skills covering geosciences, well performance, well design, production operations, facilities, project management and commercial
• Operator experience is essential
