Expert Reservoir Engineering Advisor
Job overview:
Leading technical authority for Reservoir Engineering bringing industry leading expertise into the Reservoir Mgt team Provides expert technical support. Advises leadership on technical standards, capability development and technology.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide expert input on the highest impact / most technically critical areas across Reservoir Engineering and related areas including data acquisition, integrated reservoir description, fluid and rock properties, static and dynamic modelling, depletion planning to optimise recovery / value, contingent resource opportunity identification and progression, integrated field development planning, production forecasting, well completion design, well management and sweep management.
- Provide an independent perspective to leadership on key challenges and opportunities for short and long term reservoir management and business plans from a reservoir engineering perspective
- Identify and support introduction of selected high impact external industry “best practices” and technologies
- Provide expert input to defining key reservoir engineering technical workflows and related digital toolkit / digital architecture
- Provide expert input to defining appropriate reservoir engineering standards
- Support selected assurance reviews focusing on those with the highest criticality from a reservoir engineering perspective
- Advise leadership on critical reservoir depletion risks and uncertainties and options to mitigate
- Advise leadership on reservoir engineering capability requirements:- skill types, skill levels, numbers
- Advise leadership on reservoir engineering capability development including support to recruitment and definition of experiential learning, formal training and career paths to build the required skill mix and depth.
- Mentor and coach selected senior staff.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher Petroleum Engineering
Technical:
- Work experience: 20+ years Reservoir Engineering related experience on a range of oil and gas reservoirs
- Recognised “international level” expert and thought leader in Reservoir Engineering
- Expert level knowledge and experience in managing waterflood reservoirs
- In depth technical knowledge across all aspects of Reservoir Engineering including analytical analysis, reservoir description, fluid and rock properties, reservoir surveillance, reservoir simulation and reservoir depletion planning.
- Strong cross discipline skills covering geosciences, well performance, well design, production operations, facilities, project management and commercial
- Operator experience is essential
