Junior Ecologist/Ecologist

“PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited” (HDEC) Branch office in the Republic of Azerbaijan company is looking for a Junior Ecologist/Ecologist for “240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Project”.
Job Summary:

• The Junior Ecologist at PowerChina HDEC Azerbaijan Branch, plays a pivotal role in supporting renewable energy construction and engineering projects at the Khizi and Gobustan sites. This position requires a strong background in ecology, environmental science, and sustainable practices to ensure that projects adhere to environmental regulations and minimize their ecological footprint.

Job Requirements:

• Know the ecological requirements of the ESIA and CESMP and ensure implementation of all ecological related management plans and monitoring requirements such as BAP.
• Provide ecological-related training, toolbox talks, and inductions in line with ESIA and CESMP to ensure that ecology-related measures are well understood by site personnel.
• Undertake site inspections and monitor all construction activities to ensure they are in line with the ESIA, CESMP, and ecologically related management plans.
• Complete site daily, weekly, and monthly checklists and prepare daily and weekly ecological reports as required.
• Ensure activities are not undertaken in livestock and reptile exclusion areas.
• Stop work immediately if activities detrimental to flora and fauna species are being undertaken and in the case of major ecological non-compliances.
• Undertake site inspections, carrying out monitoring activities to prevent gathering, poaching, and any disturbance of flora or fauna on site.
• Participate in weekly and monthly environmental meetings, as required.
• Ensure monitoring records are appropriately maintained, reviewed, and any non-compliance issues addressed.
• Contribute to weekly and monthly environmental reports to be submitted by the Site HSSE Training Supervisor to the Senior Site HSSE supervisor.
• Implement the Project ESIA, CESMP, and comply with national requirements.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, Environmental and Social requirements, and other related procedures.
• Liaise with internal project managers and clients to identify the ecological requirements of the projects.
• Perform as a specialist in areas of terrestrial ecology, which may include protected species.
• Provide professional advice on advanced principles of biology, chemistry, and environmentalscience to protect wildlife and natural resources as well as human life, where needed.
• Ensure the control and preparation of Environmental reports.
• Ensure control of ecological safety and environmental protection. Qualifications and Requirements:
• Science degree or equivalent, preferably in ecology, zoology, or similar discipline (Terrestrial and Marine Ecosystem)
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (as a minimum)
