Senior electrical engineer
Full-time; Office based role with site support as required.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience and job specific requirements
- Minimum 8 years engineering and design experience in Onshore/Offshore Oil & Gas environment.
- Major Project Greenfield FEED/Detailed Design experience.
- Proven competency in Electrical Engineering, preferably with some international EPC or consultancy experience.
- Construction and commissioning site experience would be beneficial.
- Professional affiliation(s) with international institutions would be beneficial.
Skill Requirement
- Expert knowledge of electrical power systems for Onshore/Offshore.
- Proficient knowledge in the application of IEC Standards and Recommendations, in particular IEC 60079, IEC 60909, IEC 61892 and IEC 61936.
- Good knowledge of plant layout specific to electrical design requirements for major electrical equipment and cable routing.
- Well-developed Engineering Design Systems skills specific to Electrical Engineering e.g. SmartPlant Electrical, ETAP, AGi32 etc.
- Expert knowledge in earthing and lightning protection.
- Must have the ability to recognize and to understand core issues and develop solutions in a step-by-step and systematic way.
- Experience in managing and supervising a team of electrical engineers.
- Knowledge of international standards and regulations related to electrical systems in offshore/onshore oil and gas facilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and issues.
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Job responsibilities
- Lead the client side electrical engineering team to ensure technical integrity is maintained and the project is in compliance with codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve deliverables from the various project contractors/vendors including but not limited to; philosophies, specifications, calculation reports, datasheets, single line diagrams, load lists, block diagrams, requisitions, layouts, DB schedules, cable schedules, wiring diagrams and layouts.
- Respond to technical queries from contractors/vendors.
- Review & control scope and schedule changes for the Electrical discipline in accordance with the change control process.
- Attend HAZOP, HAZID and other engineering assurance reviews.
- Support procurement with technical analysis (technical bid evaluations, bid clarifications etc.) and vendor selection for electrical equipment and bulks.
- Review Contractor/Vendor compliance with project/international specifications and standards.
- Provide technical guidance to project stakeholders on various aspects of electrical engineering.
- Prepare progress reports, including listing achievements and highlighting issues as required.
- Interface with other contractors, other disciplines, project managers & other stakeholders (Operations, Construction, QHSSE etc.) to ensure that project objectives are met in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance and take initiative for safety and environmental aspects.
- Provide input into project scopes of work including preparation/review of man-hour estimates.
- Review of contractor/vendor Master Document Registers.
- Ensure interaction with other disciplines for all interfaces and effectively co-ordinate Electrical engineering activities with the project stakeholders.
- Ensures all discipline work is executed in accordance with the project quality requirements.
